the forbidden fruit was a pine cone. If it's open it will be a fine sunny day, if closed you'll slowly die.

Thoughts on the new 'God's Kingdom Rules!' book
by sd-7 ini was feeling a little melancholy earlier this week and i decided to start reading wt literature again, just to see what was new and improved.
and it seems that, as has consistently been the case, the more i read of the literature, the more i see that i made the right choice to leave.. the first chapter goes into explaining what the kingdom is, then it looks like they must've essentially cut and pasted from the recent wt study articles about the 'harvest' illustration and about the two groups of anointed = one generation, but there's a third group of anointed who aren't part of 'this generation' (but, i imagine, probably will be someday, i mean, if two groups decades apart in age can be part of one generation, why not three?).
it's interesting, looking at it again after all this time.

God listens and RESPONDS to your prayer if you know how to log on to Him! Here is the proof.
by exWTslave inall my family members and friends (that include some elders) advised me to divorce my wife whose only joy was to pick up fight with me for everything i do, except my grand-mother who said: when you married her, you looked for only her good pointher regular pioneering despite having an opposing family.
for being good, you will ultimately reap something far better through her.
stick on to her.

Bethel experiences sound like a prison sentence. Why even go?
by goingthruthemotions inwhen i read about bethel experiences my mind go to the show locked up raw!.
why would someone subject themselves to this without commeting a crime.. the wife and i went to see bethel in broklyn a few years ago and it was unlike anything i expected.
very cold.. went the bosert hotel and was talking to a brother there and asked how long he had been there, he said 25 years...i asked how old he was.

I remember there used to be a story read out a lot on the platform about a guy who worked at bethel for 30 years making cheese for the restaurant. Turns out he's allergic to cheese or hates cheese or something and would have preferred another job but didn't say anything. This was always held out as a great example of being meek and submissive. It put me right off bethel tbh.

Can JW's get themselves sterilized?
by Splash incan you be sexually sterilised?no, it is absolutely wrong - w59 7/1 p. 416 questions from readers.
however, it is absolutely wrong for a person to think that in order to stay free for the kingdom service and avoid family responsibilities in the way of children he is justified in getting himself sexually sterilized.. .
no, it is harmful - w61 12/1 p. 735 questions from readers.

I had no idea there was such a flip-flop policy on this, and such strange reasoning esp 78 & 79.
Maybe they took being black balled and not being allowed to join the club too literally. Although if you are literally black balled you can't get anyone in the club, which means you cant even be a publisher. So... wait I'm confused. What was my point again :-S

welcome Nomorehustle :-) it's funny isn't it those little niggles you put to the back of your mind and then when you research a bit it's oh that's why it didn't make sense! It's because it's a house of cards. That first card is superglued in place though and hard to budge.

Will the JW.Org Site make a difference ?
by Phizzy init will obviously make a difference to how jw's obtain their literatrash, they will have to download and print it all themselves before long.. it will make a small difference to the dtod work, they will now refer even genuine questions and interest etc to the site, not taking the opportunity to "witness" on the initial call at all.
this has been happening already to a degree.. the difference i am mainly interested in is the capture of new suckers in to the borg.. we will be able to see when we get 2014's figures, sometime next year, what the rate of increase was over the last ten years.. phizzy the prophet predicts that the rate of increase over the next ten years will not be significantly up.
probably down, but certainly, i feel, not so different from the last ten.. should i be around in ten years to do so, i will wish to ask jw's:.

People generally seem to be pretty aware of JWs and whether being one would interest them. I doubt the website will make much difference to recruitment. There's always a few lost souls or damaged individuals looking for solace in religion and the JWs will gladly swallow them up. slightly OT but I wonder if they'd ever start up their own JW social network site to keep the existing dubs in (and keep tabs on them)

some thing to consider for bible believers
by Crazyguy inthe oldest in tact bible found is the codex voronicus, (miss spelled) and the oldest writings ever found were the greek septuagint written by jews in alexandria.
both of these collections of writings included the apocryphal and other writings like chapters and other verses of daniel not included in the jw bible.
so the question one must ask, is if your a bible believer how can you just throw out these writings, because reading these additional writings will change your understanding of what you have learned?.

The apocryphal books are interesting. I've only read excerpts that have been included in biblical study books so am largely ignorant of their contents.
Thanks for the links to your research Doug. I'll read those pdfs tomorrow.

Put each hand in the air for 100 reps to build up answering strength for the meetings.
Carry a literature bag of around 15 kilos door to door. This will motivate you to place as much as possible.
Practice for sitting at district conventions by unloading a fridge and scrunching yourself up in it for 8 hours. A small wardrobe may suffice if too cold.
Prepare yourself for a JW wedding reception by getting the family to do a barn dance on an evening. The kids will love it more than xbox. If family members break into any other form of dance reprimand them or slap them (this is also good exercise)
Exercise your eyelids to keep open at meetings by playing kingdom melody "Lazarus lies sleeping" while reading the latest watchtower at 2am every night.
